Think, Breathe, Move, Eat, Balance...

'I am heavenly connected and a Mercy to Humanity. For thousands of years, I have been valued for my unique taste and health benefits. An army of intelligent creatures worked day and night to produce me for your pleasure. Throughout history, I have been honored and loved by many civilizations. I have not been heated above my natural temperature and have retained all my natural qualities. I am designed with a specific purpose. I am a true blessing'

These are the words that inspire us, and they are written on every single Bee Mercy Jar of Raw Honey. We dedicate this blog to these words.

'I am Heavenly connected'

The Honey Bee can sense the movement of the Earth. Each Bee, regardless of its task, senses the location of the sun, even if it is in the darkness of the hive. It is always connected and guided by the brightest celestial body. Without this connection, it would not be able to locate the much-needed sustenance for its community.

'A Mercy to Humanity

70 out of the top 100 human food crops, which supply about 90 percent of the world's nutrition, are pollinated by bees. Things such as cotton are also pollinated by bees. Without them, we would be living in a very different world to the one we now live in. This small creature is a vital part of our ecosystem. They hold the weight of humanity on their tiny shoulders.

'For thousands of years, I have been valued for my unique taste and health benefits

You will find cave paintings depicting the harvesting of honey, Egyptian tombs containing honey used for their journey to the afterlife, and ancient Romans trading honey for gold. We have had a unique relationship with honey for thousands of years and the language of this relationship has always been health.

'An army of intelligent creatures worked day and night to produce me for your pleasure

A healthy hive can contain around 65,000 bees. Each bee with its specific duty to perform to ensure the productivity of the community. There are no orders and no demands, not even from the Queen. Each bee is in a state of complete servitude to the community and fulfills its task to perfection. They give more to Earth than they take, and when they do take, they are gentle. Through this, they produce one of the sweetest and most health-giving substances known to Humanity.

'Throughout history, I have been honored and loved by many civilizations'

The Assyrians and the Romans placed their dead in Honey to preserve them from corruption. The body of Alexander the Great was said to have been rubbed with and embalmed in Honey. In ancient Egypt, the bee was an insignia of kingship, and Honey bees, signifying immortality and resurrection, were royal emblems of the Merovingian's, revived by Napoleon. The ancient Greeks associated lips anointed with honey to have the gift of eloquence. The list goes on...

'I have not been heated above my natural temperature and have retained all my natural qualities'

If honey is heated over 35-40 degrees it kills all the natural enzymes that are present. When ultra fine filtered, it removes all the pollen and other nutrients that are beneficial. Unfortunately, many commercially produced honey have been pasteurized to standardize the flavor and reduce the effects of crystallization. Pasteurization is also used to blend honey from different countries or regions. This essentially means that although it can be labeled as 'Pure Honey' it is something very inferior to 'Raw' honey and not the honey once loved.

'I am designed with a specific purpose. I am a true blessing'

Every part of this tiny creature's body is designed with one purpose. Every bee in the community of the hive is connected, not only to one another but also to the Earth, the Sun, and each one of us. Every action it performs is with complete perfection and dedication. Every civilization has had a positive relationship with them until now, and as it flies around us, it is busy keeping us, the flowers, and the planet.
