Overview: Celebrated all over Europe and renowned for its unique complex after taste, our Raw Chestnut honey is one of the most robust honey in our selection. For centuries Chestnut Honey has been reputed to aid digestion and boost the immune system and has been used in many traditional remedies. It is not an overly sweet honey but yet it's subtle herbal aroma and slightly bitter after taste makes it a fantastic addition to cheeses and salad dressings. Slightly varying taste, colour and texture from season to season, it is raw, natural and unpasteurized as nature intended.

Colour:  Amber to Amber Dark in Colour, with clear greenish-tawny tones, more visible near the top of the jar when it touches the glass

Aroma: Herbal, Floral Aroma, with a clear component of dry wood.

Taste: A sweet caramel, tempered by clear salty notes, and often, particularly if Heather is present, slightly bitter notes; while if bramble is present, slight sharp notes and fruity aromas.

Harvest Season: Summer.

Floral Source: The bees have foraged on the blossoms of the Sweet Spanish Chestnut Tree (Castanea Sative).

Geography: Harvested from the deep forests of North of the Peninsula and the diverse terrains of Andalusia.

Chestnut Honey Uses: A teaspoon in the morning for that added boost. Excellent addition to cheeses, salad dressings and fruits. Also great with a luke warm drink. A great way to compliment your healthy diet.

Certified by the Animal Health Service, Chamber of Agriculture and the National Government of Spain.

Please note: If the honey sets (crystallizes) please don’t panic as it has not gone off. It is a natural characteristic of Raw Honey. Simply place your jar of raw honey in a glass bowl, quarter fill a pan with boiling water then place the bowl into the pan. The steam should heat the bowl, which heats the jar with out over heating it. Keep the water boiling by turning up the heat on the hob. Your honey should be runny again in 10 minutes or so (depending on size).
